We had to say goodbye to our sweet cat, Belle today. She accidentally swallowed some thread (we found out later, several days ago) and started throwing up. She stopped eating and started to lose weight very quickly. Even her fur on her tail was thinner. We took her to the vet yesterday, but it was too late. After reviewing her tests the vet said her intestines and other organs were not only displaced, but severely ruptured. It was unlikely she would have survived a very complicated surgery so we made the difficult decision to put her down this morning.
Addie went with me to see her one last time and sign papers at the vet. We went into the kennel and immediately Belle started purring when she saw us. She tried to make a move toward my hand, but she never made it to a standing position. She was in so much pain. I can't forget the look she gave me, it was so full of love...and trust. It broke my heart. We said a very sad goodbye and had to leave. The vet was so kind, he showed me the x-ray and explained all the tests they did yesterday and today. He stayed with us and answered our questions. Poor Belle. Addie was very upset too, but she was so strong. I just lost it, I couldn't help it. I was so sad for Addie - we both cared for her the most. She was such a sweet, loving lap cat. We are trying to just grasp what happened today, sometimes things progress so quickly..
I found several pictures from when she was a baby. I will look to see if we have any recent ones, I may post those later.

oh emily I am so sorry. we had to put Bonk to sleep before our vacation. haven't gotten the courage to blog about it, but I am going to. Addie looks like a baby too in those pictures.
I am so sorry, Em. She was a sweet little thing. And she was loved.
