Last night, I was doing the dishes. Addie was behind me, at the counter doing her reading comprehension homework. She has this almost every day. I could hear her reading the story of the 3 Blind Mice aloud, but since the water was running, her voice was kind of muffled. I was half-paying attention, I'll admit. (Also, I might add, I had forgotten that story is pretty gruesome...I mean, really, cutting off the eyes and tails of mice?? Ew!) Anyway, at the end of the story, Addie had to answer questions. Or, I should say, there are usually questions about the story.
Addie asked me, "Mom, isn't Rome a place?" I said, "Yes." A few minutes later, "Mom? What does morsel mean?" "Oh, it means a tiny piece of something." About 5 minutes later, after jotting down her answers, she announced she was finished and I needed to sign the homework. I walked over and was irked to see that it was a lesson in learning the meaning of words through context. Crap! Next to roam, she had written, 'a place'. Next to morsel she had written, 'a tiny piece of something'. Little stinker!!
I suggested she do the bonus part, but she shrugged it off. Who needs a bonus when you can trick your mom into doing your homework?
